When a person loses his or her life as the result of someone else’s negligence, victims’ families may have a right to attempt to hold the entities responsible for their loss liable for damages through civil litigation. The Wisconsin Wrongful Death Attorneys with Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz explain that a wrongful death case was recently filed in Sheboygan County Circuit Court following the murder of a young photographer in 2005.

An article from the Green Bay Press Gazette states that on Halloween in 2005, a then 43-year-old man and his 16-year-old nephew killed a 24-year-old photographer on a tract of land near Mishicot, Wisconsin. Both men were later convicted of criminal charges in connection with the incident, and the family of the victim filed a civil case against both men. The lawsuit alleged that the actions of the two men were responsible for the loss of family’s loved one.

Criminal trials and numerous appeals held up the civil claim. But just recently, the case was assigned to a judge for a hearing.

The law firm’s team of Green Bay Personal Injury Lawyers recognizes how difficult it can be to lose a loved one and are hopeful a decision in the case will bring some closure to the family of the victim.
