An Appleton auto collision that occurred yesterday afternoon left a 38-year-old woman seriously injured. According to a story from the Appleton Post-Crescent, the collision happened at around 11:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41, near College Avenue.
Police say the woman was attempting to merge onto the highway in a Toyota Echo. As she began to move into the left lane though, a driver of a tractor-trailer failed to see the smaller vehicle and ran into the vehicle’s rear-end. This caused the driver of the Echo to lose control, allowing the car skid out of control and roll several times.
The driver of the Echo was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Paramedics transported the woman to a local trauma center in order to receive treatment.
Investigators say they are continuing to look into what other contributing factors caused the crash.
