Ford Mustang Collides With Manure Truck

Distracted driving is becoming one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions in Wisconsin today.

The Appleton car accident attorneys with Sigman, Janssen, Sewall, Pitz & Burkham say the behavior was a contributing factor in a crash that left a local man injured last week. Reports indicate the crash happened at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Aug. 19 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 151 and Southwest Road in Grant County, Wisconsin.

According to an article from SW News, the 37-year-old driver of a 2014 Ford Mustang was driving along the road while texting on his phone. When he looked up, he was just yards from the rear of a truck hauling a load of manure. The driver did not have time to stop and slammed into the truck. He was later taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accident highlights the serious risks that distracted driving can pose. That is why the law firm’s team of personal injury lawyers in Appleton are offering several tips to keep motorists safe.

First, when getting into a car, be sure to turn your phone off until reaching your destination. Motorists can utilize their phones’ voicemail and auto-response features to let others know they are driving and will respond when it’s safe to do so. If a call must be made while driving, pull over to a safe location before dialing.
