Appleton Car Accident Injures Five People

Dec. 6, 2012

National Safety Council statistics show that as many as 14 percent of all motor vehicle accidents in the United States are caused by failure to yield to the right of way. These accidents result in more than 7,000 lives being lost each year.

One such car accident occurred in Appleton yesterday, leaving five people with injuries. The Appleton Post-Crescent reports that the crash happened at around 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Outagamie County Roads JJ and N.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department states that a 51-year-old woman was heading north in her vehicle on County Road N. She came to a complete stop as she approached the intersection and then proceeded on her way. However the 75-year-old driver of a vehicle heading eastbound on County Road JJ failed to come to a stop at the intersection and collided with the woman’s car.

The impact of the Appleton car accident was so severe that the rescue crew had to transport both drivers and two passengers from the vehicles to a nearby hospital by ambulance. A fifth passenger was airlifted to another hospital with more severe injuries.
