Health Insurance Payments In Workers Compensation Claims
May 03, 2016
Often a health insurance company will make payments towards your medical bills that you believe should be the responsibility of the workers compensation insurance company. This usually happens when you get medical treatment after the work comp insurance denies your claim. It is fine to have your bills processed through your group health insurance while you are pursuing your work comp claim. But keep track of your medical bills and who paid the bills. If your health insurance company contacts you and asks you whether your medical treatment was the result of a work injury, tell them you believe it was but the work comp insurance company is denying the claim. Send your work comp denial letter to your group health carrier. Also you may want to provide your health care providers a copy of the work comp denial and instruct them to bill your group health carrier.
