Practice Areas
Motor Vehicle Accidents
The most common type of personal injury is an auto accident. It is very important to exchange all information and make no admissions of liability or fault. Do not provide the adverse insurance carrier with a statement or authorization to obtain your confidential records. Contact your insurance company immediately to advise them of the accident, and then contact an attorney to protect your rights. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Wrongful Death
When a death occurs as a result of the negligence of another, there may be compensation due the surviving family members. The amount of compensation will depend on the nature of the accident, the amount of suffering incurred by the deceased prior to death, the loss of society and companionship to the surviving family, and the economic loss imposed on the surviving family. Insurance companies are unlikely to advise you of all the potential damages due the surviving family. It is important to contact an attorney who is familiar with wrongful death, and has the ability to compute the total amount of damages due a surviving family to protect your rights. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent wrongful death claims on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents can cause the most severe of all motor accidents since the rider of the motorcycle is unprotected. All of the same advice applies as in the motor vehicle accidents. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Pedestrian Accidents
Injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident can be severe due to the unprotected nature of the pedestrian. You may have a claim against the responsible driver's insurance carrier or even against your own automobile insurance carrier. It is important to seek medical treatment immediately and to notify the police department of the accident. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Uninsured Motorist/Underinsured Motorist
If you are in an accident with an uninsured motorist, it is essential to determine if you have uninsured motorist coverage or underinsured motorist coverage. Call your insurance agent, and make sure that you make your claim to protect your rights. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Bicycle Accidents
If you are hit while bicycling, you may have a claim against the responsible driver's insurance carrier or even against your own automobile insurance carrier. It is important to seek medical treatment immediately and to notify the police department of the accident. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Slip and Fall/Trip and Fall
Slip and fall accidents occur when a pedestrian in a structure or a controlled environment trips, slips, and falls or otherwise is hurt, and an injury occurs. In this type of case, it is essential to make a report at the location of the fall immediately and be seen by a medical provider to document any injuries. If possible, take photographs of the defect that caused the fall. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Dog Bites and Jumps
Dog bite cases have recently been given much notice in the press. Dogs, regardless of breed or disposition, can inadvertently inflict serious injury upon adults and, especially, children. If the dog at issue has previously caused injury to a person or property, your damages may be doubled pursuant to Wisconsin Law. It is imperative to report the bite to the local animal control authority and police department immediately and to have the injury checked by a medical doctor to make certain that the animal did not have rabies or another disease which can be transmitted to humans. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Brain Injury
Trauma to the head can be the most serious of all injuries since an injury to the brain is most likely to affect the quality of life. Brain injury can lead to paralysis and other life impairing problems. Expert witnesses, especially medical doctors, are mandatory in the pursuit of this type of claim. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Workers Compensation
The Workers' Compensation Act provides benefits to workers who are injured
on the job or who have acquired an occupational disease because of their
employment. It is unnecessary to prove negligence on anyone's part in
order to receive worker's compensation benefits. It is only necessary
that the injury or disease was the result of a work-related exposure or
incident.
Basic benefits include:
- Weekly compensation to the disabled worker;
- Reasonable, necessary and related hospital, surgical, medical, and mileage reimbursement expenses;
- Permanent Disability (partial or total);
- Loss of earning capacity; and
- Death benefits and burial expenses to a deceased worker's dependents.
There are other benefits that a worker's compensation lawyer can explain in more detail. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent injured worker's on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
Disability
As a result of injuries or certain physical conditions, either related or unrelated to an accident, individuals and their families may have an entitlement to social security benefits or private party disability insurance benefits. The application of disability coverage is dependent on the facts of each case. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.

Liability Determinations
We have the ability to review an accident report or set of facts and provide a formal opinion as to fault and responsibility under the law.
Compensation for Medical Expenses
Injured parties often have difficulty in properly processing their medical expenses through the applicable insurance coverages. We have the ability to analyze who is responsible to pay the bills and to properly process the medical bills.
Compensation for Wage Loss
Injured parties are entitled to compensation for gross wage losses resulting from their accident-related injuries.
Settlement Negotiations with Adjusters or Insurance Company Lawyers
Insurance adjusters have received formal training in settling claims to the advantage of the insurance company. The insurance representative does not protect your rights, only those of his or her employer: the insurance company. We have experience in dealing with adjusters and insurance attorneys alike; therefore, we are better able to protect your rights than if you were to attempt to settle your claim without legal advice and guidance.
Litigation of Disputes
We want our clients to understand that we will first give our best effort to settle their case without the need for litigation. However, when the insurance company is not willing to make a fair, prompt, and reasonable resolution of a claim, it is necessary to file a lawsuit to protect your rights. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz is here to protect your rights and fight for all the benefits you have coming. We have experienced trial lawyers who will be able to prepare and litigate your case in front of a judge or jury. Sigman, Janssen, Stack, Sewall & Pitz will represent an injured person on a contingency fee basis. If there is no financial recovery: there is no attorney fee.
